HarboringHonduras

#HarboringHonduras is a project to host a community center in La Entrada, Honduras.

La Entrada translates to “The Entrance”, as in the Entrance to Copan. Copan is a tourist destination, as it is the epicenter of the Mayan civilization, with the ruins there, hot springs and gorgeous scenery and aesthetic life there.

La Entrada, this tiny growing hub is not only the entrance to the Copan ruins but also all the other towns going into the mountainous regions of Honduras. Known for its incredible food and markets, La Entrada would also be a passing hub for drug cartels and other mischief on its way in and out of the country. A pinnacle place in Honduras, La Entrada is a peaceful town with many liberties and growing economic opportunities. It’s location allows it to be the short stop for everyone in the surrounding areas.

A country that has continuously been kicked around by disastrous hurricanes and conglomerate businesses like Coca Cola and Pepsi, that is no bigger than the state of Kansas.

No work source. No public library, No place to go-…

So many countries are lacking the government structure that allows them to be sustaining, and prosperous places.

A simple community center can empower a village with economic pull-up. A place that supports the businesses and people in its area but also offer basic services like health and educational classes and sources.

Even the smallest po-dunk towns in America have a YMCA.

With success of this in La Entrada, I wouldn’t mind taking this to other parts of the world with unorganized conditions.
